Puritan Post #1

May - September 2026

First off, thank you for being a part of the Puritan Fellowship. Read the Puritans was established on the conviction that some of the most Christ-exalting and heart-transforming writings came from the English and American Puritans of yesteryear. We’re blessed to have you along for the ride as we connect the Puritans with Christ’s church worldwide.

A lot has happened since May 9th, 2026, when we officially went live as a non-profit ministry. Therefore, this first Puritan Post update has a lot to catch up on. Before diving into all our individual tasks, perhaps a “BLUF” (Bottom Line Up Front) is in order:

BLUF: The Lord has significantly blessed Read the Puritans in the four short months since our launch, receiving our official 501C status from the IRS while significantly growing our ministry and opening many upcoming travel opportunities and initiatives. We have made substantial progress on covering our operating expenses but financial support to help get our first translation project across the finish line continues to be our greatest need.

Updates by Key Task:

In case you haven’t noticed by now, as a salute to “Pilgrim’s Progress”, all our key tasks align with the “P-P” alliteration.

Puritan Project

Our first translation project continues to move along as we are well over halfway through translating Thomas Watson’s Heaven Taken by Storm into a faithful and readable translation for the Korean church. Perhaps one of the greatest validations of the need for translating the Puritans has come from our lead translator, Emily Morse; who formerly worked as a translator for LG in Seoul. In her own words, translating Watson into Korean has “been one of the most sanctifying means of growth” and she had “no idea believers could open up the truths of scripture like Watson does on every page.” Obviously, the distinctives that make the Puritans so beloved to English-speaking Christians are making it through translation to Korean. We can’t wait for this book and many more like it to bless not just one, but many Koreans in the church worldwide.

The Lord also continues to bless Pastor Michael Park, who will edit the final translation while writing the foreword, as he faithfully pastors The Master’s Church in Seoul. This newly planted church is one of the only expository preaching churches in Seoul, which is home to over 25 million people (50% of South Korea’s population). Our project goals continue to be a high-quality translation in modern Korean, at least 100 hardcopies handed out in Korea, Korean E-book permanently available for free, English E-book permanently available for free, and a financial support given to The Master’s Church. Click below to learn more about The Master’s Church, our first project, or if you would like to support this project; and please pray for Pastor Michael Park and The Master’s Church.

Puritan Pastors

Two months ago, we began a series called Pastors on the Puritans or Puritan Pastors, aimed at interviewing current pastors on their perspective of the Puritan writings and how they and their ministries have been influenced by the Puritans. This is a rich way of hearing from active shepherds while at the same time connecting believers to faithful churches around the world. So far, the most impactful Puritan mentioned by our Puritans Pastors has been John Bunyan and most repeatedly referenced works are Pilgrims Progress and Precious Remedies Against Satan’s Devices. Below is our latest Puritan Pastor featuring Pastor Chance Hunt, senior teaching pastor at Believer’s Fellowship in San Antonio, Texas. Ironically, both founders of Read the Puritans attended this church at different points in their military career, so if you happen to live in or visit San Antonio, we highly recommend you check out this church.

Puritan Partners

Along with Michael Park, our second Puritan Partner is Pastor Juan Camacho who shepherds the Spanish ministry at Believer’s Fellowship. He and Michael Park will be the primary Read the Puritans pastoral points of contact for our current and future Korean and Spanish projects. See below links for their backgrounds. Also, please pray as we seek to find a Chinese speaking pastor for future Chinese translation projects. English, Korean, Spanish, and Chinese combined account for nearly 50% of the global population and would greatly impact our mission of Connecting the Puritans with Christ’s Church Worldwide. Learn more about both our partners below:

Puritan Pulpit

The Puritan Pulpit is released every Lord’s Day with the goal of sharing an excerpt from a real Puritan sermon to help prepare your heart for worship. We see this as an opportunity to let the Puritans pastoral hearts shine through as they preach the Word to the people under their care while exposing new readers to the actual language of the Puritans in concise, no more than 500–700-word transcripts. Released every Sunday morning at 5AM, there are currently a dozen on our website, and we guarantee these short messages will greatly encourage and lift your soul on Sunday mornings or on any day of the week.

Puritan Perspectives

Released every Thursday morning, there are currently over 30 separate Puritan articles and book reviews on our website. The goal of each review is to offer a short summary of the most transformative Puritan books while listing the key purpose and thesis along with 5x powerful quotes and recommended complimentary reading. These reviews serve as either wonderful appetizers or short summaries of some of the greatest books in history. The desired effect is to encourage our readers to either purchase or add these books to their reading list. Of note, when you purchase a book using one of the links on our website, Read the Puritans gets a small percentage back which will be used to fund our operations and it costs you nothing.

Puritan Picks

Part of the struggle with those new to the Puritans is knowing where to start. To make it easy for beginners or those farther along their journey, we’ve created multiple Puritan Reading Lists, or Puritan Picks, with eight currently on our website. Most popular are our Where to Start and Top 10 Essential Reads. We’ve also started our RTP Top-7 series, with our most shared being the list on Anxiety and Depression.

Puritan Pearls

What began as a quote of the week has now evolved into daily (with exceptions of Sundays and Thursdays) Puritans Pearls released on social media. We pray these jewels can be a blessing to you as you wake up each morning and get started with the day. We pray they can also be a means for those unfamiliar with the Puritans to begin hearing their voice as they pack rich, theological truths into short & concise words (something we struggle with in our modern information age as evidenced in this long update). If you have not already, be sure to follow us on social media:

Puritan Pilgrimage

Read the Puritans is officially getting on the road this Fall and will be supporting a few Conferences along with a college visit. We pray this will help increase the awareness of our ministry while helping raise funds for our project and general fund.

·      October 9-11; Walking Worthy Conference, Katy TX (Phil Johnson, HB Charles, Richard Caldwell)

·      November 6-7th; Ambassadors Conference, San Antonio, TX (Juan Camacho, Lucas Aleman, Roberto Sanchez)

·      November 19-20th; The Master’s University, Santa Clarita, CA

Puritan Provisions

This Fall, just in time for the holidays, we’ll be putting our “official” RTP coffee mug for sale on our website. Made by Sunset Hill Stoneware, these made in the USA mugs are beautifully handcrafted, matching the high quality of the Puritans. While initial mugs will be for sale in person at our conferences, we’ll have both a large and small design for purchase online around Thanksgiving with 100% of proceeds going directly to our translation projects. Additionally, we’ve partnered with Aviator Gear for our Puritan stickers and patches which will also be for sale this Fall on our website. As the leading provider for the US Air Force flying community, Aviator Gear makes the highest quality merch for operational squadrons worldwide, and we’re excited to have them partner with our Read the Puritans family.

Financial Update

Finally, we want to take this opportunity to give you an update on the financials at RTP. In July of this year, we received our tax-exempt approval and set two immediate goals for RTP: $300 in monthly recurring gifts to cover our operating expenses and $4,622 to fund the first translation project. In the Lord’s kindness, we’re already at 50% of our operating costs goal! This is amazing and we’re very thankful to you. We do pray that you would consider helping us close the remaining gap on this goal and to help us work toward completing the translation project. We trust that the Lord will provide so we’ve pressed ahead with the project and progress is steady. We’re currently at 8% of the goal and this remains our biggest need. We also want to point out that by helping fund this project, you’re also helping a new church plant in Korea. A large portion of the cost of the project is actually a financial gift to The Master’s Church! So, you’re not just helping to translate a Puritan book. We’re helping to further the kingdom at the same time!

If you’re willing and able to help us connect the Puritans with Christ’s church around the world, we would be most grateful.
